Easy Spicy Garlic Asian Noodles Ingredients

You will need only few items to pull off this dish. Some of which are pantry staples.

Noodles

1 pack – noodles (120g) – We are using an instant ramen noodles with this cooking. It is just easy to source out. You can buy it in any Asian store. You can also choose whatever brand you like.

Spicy Garlic Sauce

  • 2 tablespoon soy sauce – this makes the sauce savory. We are just using regular soy sauce.
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce – I did not add sugar to this cooking. The little sweetness comes from the oyster sauce.
  • 1/4 cup ramen water – instead of plain water, we are using reserved ramen water when we cooked the noodles.
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon minced garlic – this makes this noodles garlicky flavor.
  • 1/4 cup – green onions – for aroma and color.
  • 2 tablespoons chili flakes – this makes this noodles spicy.

Cooking Instructions

Cook the Noodles

  • Start with boiling the ramen noodles. It usually takes 3 to 4 minutes to cook the noodles. However, read the package instructions to be sure the cooking time of your noodles. Once you are done cooking with the noodles, reserve 1 cup of the ramen water. You can now drain the remaining water from the noodles and set aside noodles.

Mix the sauce

  • You can now Mix soy sauce with oyster sauce and ramen water.

Prepare the Egg

  • Heat oil in a pan. Fry sunny side-up egg and set aside.

Cook the spicy garlic sauce together with the Noodles

  • In the same pan, cook and stir garlic and green onions. Cook until golden brown.
  • Add the chili flakes. Cook for about 30 seconds, stirring often.
  • Add in the soy sauce mixture and stir.
  • Put in the cooked noodles and mix well.
  • Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds and top it with the sunny side-up egg.

  2. You can make this recipe so simple and basic by just cooking the noodles and the sauce. It is already so yummy and satisfying in itself. But you can definitely elevate its flavors by adding some meat and veggies to it.
  3. You can add other proteins to this dish if you desire. You can use chicken, shrimp or even pork. If using big cuts of pork or chicken, it is best to cook them in advance separately just like what we did with the sunny side up egg. However, if you are using chicken strips or pork strips and shrimp, you can just add them when you sauté the garlic.
  4. Want to add some greens to it? Of course you can. The best veggie you can add to it is blanched bok choy. Mushrooms is another option.
  5. You can use mirin, hoisin sauce, a bit of sugar or maple syrup as other variations for the sauce.
  6. No chili flakes? You can just use chili powder instead. Just adjust its quantity to your liking. The more, the spicier of course.
