Cooking is something that when you get into it, is great fun. It gives you the chance to express yourself, you can continuously learn when cooking – especially when trying new recipes and it’s very social.

If you are someone who loves to cook, there are many ways to improve your cooking and some of the tips are very easy to do. For example, when trying to improve, it’s important you try and cook new things, such as making this air fryer chicken parmesan. Using fresh ingredients is also important as well as watching YouTube videos from professional chefs and applying their advice.

Below are three simple ways to improve your cooking

Try new recipes

As with most things in life, practice makes perfect and without trying new things how can you expect to learn? This is very much the case when it comes to cooking and the best way to improve is to continuously cook and try new recipes. Challenge yourself to try to cook something new each week and when finding the recipes, ensure they use different techniques so that you can learn those as well.

Use fresh ingredients

The produce you are using when cooking can make a real difference to the overall flavors of the meal you are preparing. When possible, try to use the freshest ingredients as this can take your cooking to the next level – there is a big difference between basil in a jar to freshly prepared basil from a plant. The same can be said when using powdered garlic and fresh garlic – although, for some recipes, powdered garlic can be useful such as my fried chicken recipe.

Watch the experts

Watching the experts cook on cooking channels or on the Internet on sites like YouTube can also help you improve. Often chefs will share with you their best tips when making different recipes, that you can apply yourself. The more you watch different cooking channels online, the more you will learn and be able to adapt to different scenarios. Along with YouTube and live TV, you will find a lot of popular chefs on different social media channels, like Instagram, Facebook and TikTok.

Ask for advice from the people you cook from

This is a very simple one but one that a lot of people don’t do. When cooking for others, such as your family members or friends, ask for their feedback. Make sure they are honest with you and ask them to critique the food you prepare for them. It might be something obvious that you can improve on that you hadn’t thought of or realised before, such as using too much salt. Their feedback can really help you become a better cook.
